DECLARATION of CONCERN and SUPPORT
We, the participants of the First National Convention on the Fundamental Rights of Children and Youngsters with Disabilities, declare to commit ourselves in working together on common platforms of:
Respect for the dignity and inherent rights to survival, development, protection, and participation of all children and youngsters with disabilities;
Empowerment of children and youngsters with disabilities to participate fully in all aspects of civil life.
In particular, we resolve
To actively participate in reaching the full potentials of children with disabilities (CWDs) through the full realization of their fundamental rights;
To create the right environment for the CWDs to feel loved, happy, accepted and secured in a family;
To strengthen skills, to become self-reliant and independent and free from abuse, exploitation and discrimination;
To formulate and implement strategies that will improve attitudes and behavior towards persons with disabilities;
To be protected by a responsive and enabling family, community and government;
To assist in the development of effective mechanisms for the implementation and monitoring of laws and policy provisions pertaining to the equalization of opportunities for persons with disabilities;
To advocate for honest and realistic communication of disability issues to generate awareness and support from all stakeholders;
To provide opportunities for the active participation of children and youngster with disabilities in decision-making and governance in harmony and in unity with others; and
To formulate doable plans that will address the concerns of CWDs to ensure the realization of their aspirations to have a bright future.
We therefore in consideration of our unconditional love for our children and youngsters with disabilities and ensure a better life for them, having faith in God that this Declaration of Concern and Support will be put into action.
We hand to them vision and a road map for a bright tomorrow for the Filipino Children and Youngsters with Disabilities.
