How the Liliane Foundation operates

In order to allow children with a disability in developing countries to experience themselves that they do matter, the Liliane Foundation tries to help them develop their potential, feelings and expectations:

In cooperation with mediators (local contacts) the Liliane Foundation offers direct, small-scale, person-centred help to children and adolescents with a disability in developing countries. Attention is paid to all factors that influence their well-being. The aid is aimed at making them more able-bodied and strengthening their resilience, developing their self-awareness and enhancing their personal and social capabilities. The ultimate goal of rehabilitation is to get the child to (re)connect to his/her environment; that he/she no longer watches from the side lines, but is an active member of the family, local community and society.

The Liliane Foundation systematically draws attention to the bleak future of children with a disability in developing countries and to the correlation between their situation and the general problems of countries in the South. The Liliane Foundation seeks to raise funds, necessary to continue helping children and adolescents with a disability in developing countries, by convincing the general public and organizations of the necessity and effectiveness of basic aid. It achieves this by providing clear and transparent information.
