Archive of Websites Designed by Former MCCID Students

The website is dedicated to helping institutions in the Philippines with emphasis on Deaf foundations, non-government organizations and other disability groups have a web presence by designing a free website for them.

As part of their thesis to graduate, MCCID deaf students are tasked to design their websites free of charge. Their websites are temporarily hosted here as long as they like or if they want to be transferred to a new home.

Here are some of the sites. Click on the thumbnail to view the website.

Note: The designers strive to make their sites accessible for all users, including people with disabilities. However, since most of the sites were created in the late 2000s, the designs only conform to the existing technology. Smartphones, tablets, and other smaller screen devices widely used today were still unheard of.

Website Designs With Own Domain Names and Web Hosting

Some organizations and foundations opted to purchase their own domain names and web hosting services. But all of them have decided not to renew those services and were therefore discontinued. We would just list down the sites below for information purposes.

Website Designs Using Content Management Systems

By early 2010, Content Management Systems (CMS) Designs using WordPress became of standard use. So most of the websites the students designed were database-driven. However, we cannot include them here because of limited web hosting space. We would just list down the sites below for information purposes.

What is MCCIDONLINE.NET now MCCIDONLINE.COM

mccidonline.net is the first paid domain name address used by Manila Christian Computer Institute for the Deaf Foundation, Inc. (MCCID) which was purchased on August 31, 2000. It was been the official website address of the foundation for more than five years until February 2006 when it changed to www.mccid.edu.ph indicating an established educational institution in the Philippines.

After 2006, the web address was continued and maintained. It has been used to promote web accessibility in the Philippines. The logo of two hands with middle fingers aligning each other is the Filipino Sign Language for Internet or contact using the Internet.

However, due to the pandemic, the ".net" domain name was not automatically renewed and internet sharks immediately grabbed the name and used it for online gamblings, etc.

In order to preserve the contents of the site, we decided to purchase a ".com" domain name in 2021 that we now use.
